Mammalian behavioral ecology, stable isotope ecology,
landscape ecology
Research interests
My primary research interests revolve around the potential impacts that changes in landscape structure have on animal behavior. For example, as an undergraduate at the University of Minnesota I spent two years investigating bison foraging behavior in the face of predation and a changing landscape structure. Although this particular study was based solely on observational data, there are techniques that can be used to measure such behavior in a more objectively quantitative manner. Thus enters my interest in stable isotope ecology. Ultimately, I would like to combine observational and stable isotope data to help me answer questions concerning ungulate foraging behavior in the face of varying predation pressure and changing landscape structure.
